Minister for Finance to present 2020 Annual Budget to Parliament

Accra, Tuesday, 12th November, 2019…In accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and section 21 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921) the Minister for Finance will, on behalf of the President, lay before Parliament the 2020 Annual Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government on Wednesday, 13th November, 2019.

The 2020 budget will focus primarily on consolidating gains made by government through its prudent economic management over the three year period since assuming office.  Some of these gains include, Job creation, improvements in educational enrolment at the Senior High School (SHS) level through the Free Senior High School programme, infrastructure development and food security.

Aside from highlighting Ghana’s fiscal performance between January and September 2019, as well as the country’s fiscal strategy for 2020, the annual budget will also touch on policies to secure the macro-economic gains achieved to propel the economic transformation of Ghana.

Road rehabilitation and construction, Government Priority Programmes, funding of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra are expected to be highlights of the 2020 Budget. END
