The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko (MP),has inaugurated a seven-member Board for the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) with the task to ensure accurate and reliable data system for the country’s development.
At the Board inauguration, he reminded the committee that good data was key to making the right decisions, especially when resources were limited.
Hon. Ampem Nyarko urged them to demonstrate strong leadership and ensure they produce accurate, relevant, and timely data to support the country’s development.

He also assured the committee of the government’s full support in the discharge of their mandate
The new Board is chaired by Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, former General Secretary of the Ghana Trade Union Congress, with other members including Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, Mrs. Nelly Mireku, Director of Research at the Ministry of Finance), Dr. Zakaria Mumuni, Prof. Mariama Awumbila, Dr. Philomena Nyarko, and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, thanked President John Mahama and the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, for entrusting them with this responsibility and enumerated a number of strategies to support government’s key initiatives.
