SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR YEAR 2006

As a result of successful negotiations with the Joint Consultative Forum, Government has approved the following adjustments in salary for year 2006.

• An across board salary increase of 20% on the 2005 GUSS levels to take the retrospective effect from January 1, 2006

• The new salary levels would reflect in the pay of workers at the end of May, 2006

• The four (4) months arrears (January to April, 2006) would be paid in two equal instalments in June and July, 2006.

This increase is applicable to all Government Agencies and Departments operating with salaries governed by the Ghana Universal Salary Structure.

It is recalled that Government had increased the Minimum Wage from ¢13,500.00 to ¢16,000.00 with effect from 1st March 2006.

These are some of the measures to improve the salaries of workers in addition to the Public sector pay Reform that is currently on-going.
