COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC PROCUREMENT NETWORK GROUP PAYS COURTESY CALL ON DEPUTY MINISTER
The Commonwealth Public Procurement Network today paid a courtesy call on the
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Prof. Gyan Baffour.
The purpose of the courtesy call was to brief the Hon. Deputy Minister on their
two week study tour of Ghana’s Public Procurement Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME)
Tool.
Welcoming the delegation, the Deputy Minister urged the group to make good their
time in Ghana. He further stated that, it is in sharing that we can improve and
build on what we already have. He urged them to feel at home
and also take the opportunity to see Ghana.
Mrs. Job, the leader of the delegation, in her remarks stated that the CPPN Forum
study tour is part of learning among ourselves effective procurement practices put
in place in different countries.
She also used the opportunity to thank the participants from the different African
countries for their openness in reviewing and relating our system to their own
system back at home.
She noted that, this study tour will serve as additional impetus to continue to
strive to improve the procurement system(s) on their return back to their
different countries.
The Public Procurement Authority - Ghana in collaboration with the Governance and
Institutional Development Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat is currently
hosting high level Public Procurement Practitioners in Benchmarking, Monitoring &
Evaluation from The Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Tanzania and Uganda.
It is expected that at the end of the study tour, participants will have practical
based experience in the use of Ghana's PPME Tool and achieve stronger
collaboration through effective networking.
The activity is an outcome of the Communiqué reached by the Commonwealth Public
Procurement Network (CPPN) Conference held in Accra, earlier this year.
The CPPN is a forum of Public Procurement Practitioners within Commonwealth Africa
that will soon embrace the rest of the Commonwealth.
