SPANISH AMBASSADOR PAYS COURTESY CALL ON HONOURABLE MINISTER
Her Excellency Julia Olmo, Spanish Ambassador has announced the Spanish government’s intention of setting up an Economic and Commercial office within their embassy by the end of the year. She disclosed this during a courtesy call on the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Wiredu in his office.
The setting up of the office is to foster economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador expressed the hope that the Private sector would be more involved in projects and programmes initiated between the two governments.
Other issues discussed were on Energy and Tourism. She expressed her satisfaction about the organization and hosting of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) by Ghana.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Honourable Minister said Spain has assisted Ghana in a lot of areas in its development.
The Minister noted that Ghana is also having its share of the global energy crises. Adding that, it would be appreciated if the Spanish government could look at setting up a Solar Company in Ghana.
He further iterated that since Spain is one of the major tourist hap in the world, Ghana could tap from their vast experience and expertise. He noted that future collaboration in that sector would be welcomed.
Her Excellency, Julia Olmo was accompanied by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Alfredo Bonet and the Secretary General for Foreign Trade, Juan José Otamendi.
