Finatrade Donates To GRIB
The Finatrade Group Company in Ghana has donated an amount of GH 29,995.00 to the Ghana Rice Inter-Professional Body (GRIB) to enable it provide post -harvest infrascture toward quality improvement, income loss and standardisation of the rice sector in Ghana.
GRIB is a national umbrella organisation of Rice Stakeholders that was duly incorporated in July 2004 as a company limited by guarantee in accordance with the Ghana Companies Code (1963)Act 179.
Speaking at a short ceremony in Accra, yesterday, the Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. John Awuni, disclosed that the donation was meant to develop the benefits to the country, especially the rice industry.
He noted that this donation was also to provide financial assistance to the rice industry in Ghana and have provided ready market for rice farmers for the past ten years.
The Vice -President of GRIB, Mr. Godwin Atouple, stated that the main objective of the GRIB is to act as an advocacy group on rice policy issues with the Government of Ghana, Parliament and related Agencies as well as their effective impleamentation.
Mr. Atouple said that GRIB has a great vision to put local rice into sustainaibility adding that much effort has being put in place to make good local rice enjoyable to Ghanaians and the international community.
Mr. Atouple called on the non-govermental organisations (NGOs) and other Donors to come to the aid of agriculture to promote the patronage of local rice in the country.
