HONOURABLE MINISTER OF FINANCE LAUNCHES BOOKLET
ON DUTY PAYABLE ON IMPORTED VEHICLES
The Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwadwo Baah Wiredu (MP) has launched a booklet titled “Total Duty Payable on Imported Vehicles” in Accra.
The publication is a compilation of taxes on used imported vehicles and is a step aimed at educating the general public on vehicle importation regime so that they can make more informed choices on vehicles they intend to import and increase transparency in the administration of vehicle regime. The information will be widely disseminated to Ghanaians both home and abroad.
The launch was witnessed by the Commissioner of the Customs Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS), Commissioner of Internal Revenue Service, the Executive Secretary of the Revenue Agencies Governing Board, Mr. Harry Owusu and Officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, CEPS and the RAGB
Launching the booklet, the Hon. Ministers said in the recent past there have been increased volumes of imported vehicles and as such interest in the vehicle importation regime. “Request made to CEPS for information on this regime from resident and non resident Ghanaians are mostly on a daily basis”.
The publication was compiled by the CEPS under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
The Minister said government believes that the document will go a long way to help bring about transparency in the assessment of imported vehicles and hence the reduction of the financial burden on vehicle importers.
