Inflation Rate Dips Slightly

The rate of inflation has dipped slightly to 8.55 per cent in November compared to 8.56 per cent recorded in October.

Government of Ghana Statistician, Dr Grace Bediako who announced the figures at a press briefing yesterday, said the slowdown in the pace of inflation was on the back of lower food inflation, which had been recording single digit inflation rate over the past 12 months.

The food inflation was 4.41 per cent in November. Non-food, on the other hand, rose to 11.08 per cent within the period, more than two times that of the food inflation rate.

Dr Bediako said Government appeared to be on track to meet its end of the year inflation target of nine per cent, saying that it was difficult to go.

“It is difficult to predict how the pattern in December will be because of the Christmas festivities,” she said.

Inflation rate in the Regions ranged from 5.43 per cent in Upper East and West Regions to 10.54 per cent in Central Region. The Central, Ashanti, Greater Accra and Western Regions recorded inflation rates above the national rate of 8.55 per cent.
