Ghana Hosts Business Forum On Liberia
The Embassy of Liberia in Accra, in collaboration with the National Investment Commission (NIC), will hold a day‘s business and Trade Forum at the Accra International Conference centre, on February 20, 2010.
The forum, under the directives of the offices of the President of the Republic of Liberia will be addressed by Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia. It is to sensitise Ghanaian entrepreneurs to the business opportunities that exist in Liberia.
The forum is to further encourage these entrepreneurs to expand and partner their Liberian counterpart in the spirit of promoting regional integration.
Ambassador Rudolf von Ballmoos disclosed that speakers at the forum will include key sector ministries and their counterparts from Liberia.
The Liberian Bar Association, Liberia Chamber of Commerce, The Liberia Business Association (LIBA), The Concerned Liberian Business Organisation (COLIMBO), FULAH Business Association all of Liberia, The Association of Ghana Industries, The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Ghana Chamber of Mines, The EMPRETEC Ghana and other business organisations and individuals will participate in the forum.
The theme for the forum, according to Ambassador von Ballmoos is, “Investment Opportunities for Job Creation and Economic Empowerment.”
Ambassador von Ballmoos revealed that since the end of the civil crisis, especially during the past five years, the country has recorded tremendous progress in infrastructure development and poverty alleviation under the Government‘s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS). Liberia can boast as one of the safest and most attractive countries in the sub-region as an investment destination today.
The Ambassador expressed hope that Ghanaians will take advantage of this forum to encourage them to partner their Liberian counterparts, to promote development in both countries.
