IRS Develops New Software
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has developed a new software known as IRS Tax Helper to help companies prepare their tax returns.
This came to light when an official from the Information Management Division of the IRS head office in Accra, Mr. Patrick Danso, took participants, who were drawn from the public and private sectors, through the mode of application of the system in Bolgatanga yesterday.
The new software will help tax payers in the collection of taxes to facilitate prompt submission of returns without going through the usual anxious busy periods when tax payers are filling their returns.
He said his outfit decided to develop the software because a research was carried out and it was found that majority of employers and tax payers found it difficult to prepare their tax returns and as a result either under or over paid taxes.
Mr. Danso said the new system will eliminate the various errors which usually occur when filling tax returns and that it will be an advantage to the tax payer.
Mr. Danso said another advantage of the product is that the application of the software in preparing tax returns does not consume more time as compared to the ordinary form of preparing tax returns.
He appealed to organisations, especially those in the private sectors, to consult any branch of IRS to access the software and its manual free of charge and to start using it as soon as possible.
Mr. Danso underscored the need for companies and organisations who refuse to submit their tax returns to desist from that since when caught by the IRS Commission they will be made to pay additional cost.
He said revenue collection is one of the major sources of the government revenue and will not allow any company or organisation to invade tax.
