New Software for IRS

The Internal Revenue Service has introduced new software called the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Tax Helper Software.

Mr. Patrick Danso, from the Management Information Technical Division (MITD) presented the uses of the 'IRS Tax Helper software' to the media at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre in Accra today.

He explained that the IRS Tax Helper Software is software designed and developed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), to help Taxpayers in the computation of ‘Tax’ to facilitate prompt submission of Returns.

He stated that, the software is to assist companies and business entities to calculate the monthly 'PAYE Returns', to update employees' information and to help in the registration of employees.

Henoted that, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) realised that most of the calculations of the PAYE Returns are wrongly done due to lack of qualified personnel to do the calculations, the use of Tax Rate for the calculations and misapplying the rules in the monthly 'PAYE' calculations.

This he said has often resulted in the imposition of penalties by IRS Tax Audit Teams, hence the introduction of the software.
