COURTESY CALL ON THE MINISTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC PLANNING BY THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR TO GHANA
H. E. Miguel Custabo Perez Cruz, the Cuban Ambassador to Ghana has paid a courtesy call on Hon. Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, at his office in Accra.
They discussed among other things bilateral relations between the two countries, Cuba’s indebtedness to Ghana and efforts by the Government in improving the living conditions of Ghanaians.
H. E. the Ambassador expressed his country’s gratitude to Ghana for her bilateral relations and assistance, and Cuba’s desire to supply Ghana with Compact Florescent Lamp (C.F.L) which has six-thousand hours life span to defray their indebtedness to Ghana. This, according to him will help curb Ghana’s energy crisis.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Wiredu expressed the country’s gratitude to the government of the Republic of Cuba for its continued support to the development of the Ghanaian economy. He said mutually beneficial relationship between Ghana and Cuba has existed for the past two decades, and this continues to grow stronger as it’s manifested through the implementation of economic and cultural agreements.
He further stated that, Ghana-Cuba Bilateral relations are mainly centered on health, Education and sports development. He said currently, there are about 200 Cuban doctors serving in Ghanaian health institutions.
With regards to Cuba’s offer to supply Compact Florescent Lamp to defray their debt, the Minister assured the Ambassador that his ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Energy and Foreign Affairs for consideration.
