REDUCTION OF FUEL CONSUMPTION
BY EXECUTIVE AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS
1. In view of the rising cost of fuel consumption by Government and other public officials as a result of the increases in fuel prices, Government is taking steps to introduce fuel conservation measures within the public service to ensure that the situation is appropriately managed in order not to severely distort targets set in the 2006 Budget.
2. In this regard, Government is issuing this directive that all Ministries and their Agencies and Departments (MDAs) are to provide, as a matter of urgency, detailed information on fuel consumption by type, volume, and expenditure for the complete years of 2004 and 2005. This is to enable Government come up with appropriate measures to handle reduction in fuel consumption within the Government and Public Service.
3. This information should be received in my office not latter than the close of business, on Wednesday, 10th May, 2006.
