BOOK OF CONDOLENCE FOR THE LATE MR. KWADWO BAAH-WIREDU

TO THE MEMORY OF HON. KW ADWO BAAH WIREDU MINISTER OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC PLANNING
The Public Services Workers' Union of GTUC heard with shock, the news on Wednesday 24th September, 2008 about the sudden death of Hon. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. We had wished the unpalatable news not true.

The Leadership and the entire membership of the Public Services Workers' Union are grieved with mourning and cannot comprehend the death of our dearest honourable Minister.

We can not account the late Hon. Baah-Wiredu's assistance to our Union as Director of Finance at Ghana Trade Fair Company and as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. As the Director of Finance at the Ghana Trade Fair Company, he made sure that his figures to management for negotiations were not distorted. He always present the actuals.

As Minister of Finance, he would give the union detailed government expenditure pattern on wages and salaries for any particular year to guide our negotiations. He would always tell us, "this is the plain truth; so what do we do in order not to injure the State and the Working People."

We remember him with nostalgia his orders for the release of mandate to subvented organizations in 2006 to enable unions to negotiate for conditions of service through the Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Hon. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu; the Public Services Workers' Union will forever remember you.
